Sapna Devi a resident of small village of Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh lived with her husband and 4 daughters. Sapna and her family were living in extremely deprived conditions for the past few years. Sapna’s husband worked as a carpenter in the village and his meagre income was insufficient to meet the rising needs of the family of six. The family was barely able to save money for the education and marriage of their four daughters. Sapna engaged in small jobs like stitching garments for an additional source of income to support of her family.
Sapna heard from her neighbours about women forming a group to receive microfinance loan from SATYA to begin their entrepreneur journey. She approached the group and engaged with the loan officer of SATYA who explained her the joint liability group loan and its benefits. She joined the group and received her first loan of Rs. 60,000 deciding to open her own grocery shop. She opened shop nearby to her house so that she could look after her children while working.
Gradually the shop started to grow, and the additional income brought excitement and hope in their lives. Today she is delighted on becoming a successful entrepreneur and a proud mother, fulfilling her duties for her children’s.
Sapna says “I am grateful to SATYA for helping me fulfil my dreams and making a significant difference in the quality of our life. I am looking forward to expanding my shop.”
